In preparation for Gilly and Tony’s destination wedding in France, we headed over to Virginia Water in Surrey for our pre-wedding shoot.
I’ll never forget the message that come through to me when Tony asked if I was available to document his wedding. It was something on the lines of “Hi Tarik, Gilly and I are getting married in a beautiful Chateau in Bordeaux and wondered if you’d consider coming over to photograph…no pressure and it’s fine if it’s not your thing”. Well. I’ve never responded to a text so quickly in my life with “YESSSSSSSSSSSS”. Everything about this wedding just sounded amazing.
After shooting my first destination wedding in Nerja last year I couldn’t wait to document my next wedding somewhere around the world. So having the opportunity to be a destination wedding photographer in France for the VERY lovely Tony and Gilly was something that had me pretty excited.
Virginia Water is another one of those locations that made me question where I’ve been all my life. It’s lovely and looks more like a location set in the middle of Canada. There’s even a waterfall? That’s right, a waterfall! The weather was bright and warm so we had loads of interesting light and frames to play with which always makes it doubly fun for me.
As with all of my couple shoots there was a lot of “we don’t like having our picture taken… we’re quite nervous about this…” but once we got started Tony and Gilly were totally relaxed and pretty darn lovely together. They just had a laugh and a cuddle for an hour – which is exactly how I like it to be.
We’re 3 days away from the big day and I’m beyond excited. Bordeaux, here we come!
