Katie and Graham’s Wedding at Blake Hall in Ongar, Essex

Thinking she was going on a surprise trip to Italy Katie found herself on a plane, heading out to San Francisco.  Little did she know she’d be travelling for 6 months with the love of her life.  It turned out to be a trip of a lifetime rather than the surprise Italy trip she was expecting.  It had all been organised by Graham.  From the Rocky Mountains to Napa Valley. They went travelling around the US soaking in the sights.  When she returned to one of her favourite restaurants overlooking the vineyards in the Napa Valley she hadn’t expected the proposal.  True to form; however, Graham surprised her yet again! Getting down on one knee at the end of the evening and asking Katie to marry him.  Flash forward to August this year, and that proposal led to their wedding day at one of my favourite wedding venues in Essex. Blake Hall in Ognar.

The Wedding Day

Having already photographed the “Grahams” (Graham and Katie Graham! – How uncanny?) on their pre-wedding shoot at Saint Johns College in Cambridge where they’d met years earlier; I was warmly greeted like an old friend when I arrived the morning of their wedding. Katie was getting ready at her parent’s house. I always think there is something special about getting ready at your parents home. All the memories of a family growing up together. The significance for Katie and her close-knit family on a special day is a wonderful thing.

Katie and Graham’s ceremony was at their local church at St Alban the Martyr Church in Coppersale on a beautifully sunny day in August. Following bouts of terribly heavy rainfall, I had promised that I’d speak to the clouds and do my special “Anti-Rain” dance to make sure we got nothing but good weather for their day. And this is precisely what we got. Rain or shine though, I know for a fact that these guys would have had a great day.  A handpicked IPA (Indian Pale Ale) by none other than the Groom Graham followed at Blake Hall, along with a fun and lively reception. And who could forget that hilarious speech from Groom Graham?

Here’s a little preview of Katie & Graham’s beautiful wedding day at Blake Hall.

After years of travelling and generally enjoying every moment together, they’ve finally got another milestone in their relationship to tick off. Congratulations on your marriage!  On to the next as they say…  Katie & Graham, Thank you! It was a pleasure capturing your day. I hope you enjoy your amazing honeymoon (6-months travelling the world).  Ticking off lots of other amazing places on your travel wish list.
